The morning service begins promptly at 10:30 AM and our evening service/bible study begins promptly at 5:30 PM

We recommend arriving around 10:10-10:15 AM (15-20 mins early). This will give you enough time to find a parking spot, check-in kids (if applicable), find your seat, and grab a coffee before the service begins. (Pre-register your kids here: Click here!)

We have plenty of parking located on-site on the asphalt lot near the west end of the building. Overflow parking is available on-site as well on the gravel lot that connects to the asphalt lot. Entrance and exit signage with pavement directional arrows will help safely guide traffic too.

Yes we do! We understand it is counter-cultural today to believe that commitment leads to freedom, but that’s exactly how we see church membership at SVC. Becoming a member of a local church is a bold statement of faithfulness to a body of believers. It is an outward sign of an inward dedication to walking with and investing in a community who desires to follow Jesus every day. are primarily expositional, which means, that the messages are grounded in Scriptural structure, emphasis, context, meaning, and application as we draw from the well of God’s Word to expose the intended message that the Holy Spirit inspired. We do have specific seasons within our flow of Expositional series which include some “thematic” series, however, the agenda is set by scripture and usually covering our statement of faith or other theological topics.

Yes. While we don’t foresee such a traumatic situation to occur, we are well-prepared and trained to respond promptly to numerous situations with first response protocols in place every time we gather.

We are Complimentarian. In the church, redemption in Christ gives men and women an equal share in the blessings of salvation; nevertheless, some governing and teaching roles within the church are restricted to men (Gal 3:28; 1 Cor 11:2–16; 1 Tim 2:11–15). This is God’s good creation design and are not a consequence of sin or the Fall.

All are welcome. Why? We are all sinners needing to hear the life-changing gospel message. Every attendee should strive toward the trajectory of aligning with God’s Word. So, as any LGBTQIA+ person discovers this, we anticipate that they will naturally find that their lifestyle is not condoned or affirmed in scripture, along with other sins of adultery, stealing, addiction, etc.

We offer a new members class called Discover SVC about 2-3 times per year. This class is an introductory course to learn more about the church. Once completed, the next step is taking the membership class and interviews.

On Sunday morning, we have Nursery (3 months to 4 years old) and Sunday School (5 to 8 yrs old) available during the church service.

We encourage parents to take advantage of our trained childcare providers and bible teachers on Sundays, both for the children’s benefit and those adults in worship. Both will have teaching geared to their understanding level.

The Children’s wing locks automatically and is secure through the entire service. Every worker in children’s ministry goes through a thorough nationwide background screening. Every child is digitally checked in with a name tag before being dropped off in a class. Children birth-third grade are released only when the parent/guardian checks their children out.

Yes, a six-month premarital counseling course is available for members or regular attenders (at least 6 months prior to applying for the course). All couples intending to be married at Steel Valley must complete the process.

Yes! Depending upon the individual needs, we do outsource some situations to professional Christian counselors if special needs arise.

Our Answer:

My God willingly gave His Son to save my soul! My God took the punishment of my soul so I wouldn’t have to. My God forgives even the worst of sinners--like me! My God gives joy and peace when there is no reason for joy!

Verse:

1 Timothy 2: 5-6 There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone.

Follow-up questions:

What is a good person? What makes someone a bad person? If Heaven only lets “good people” in, and Heaven is God’s home, shouldn’t He get to decide what makes us “good people?”

Answer:

According to God, no one is actually good. No one. So the question is, why should I be allowed into Heaven? Why is anyone allowed into Heaven?

Verse:

Romans 3: 10-11 As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous —not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God.

Follow-up questions:

Do you feel like bad things are an indication of evil in a person’s life? Do you struggle with good things happening to bad people, too? Do you value your ability to make your own choices--good and bad? Do you want God to stop you from doing whatever you want?

Answer:

Of course, some bad things are an immediate result of our sin. If we drive on the opposite side of the road from the law, there are inherent risks. But catastrophes just seem senseless--like floods and tornadoes. A shooting that kills innocent people seems senseless. The Bible tells us that all evil--even a world that has floods and mudslides--is all because of our sin--in a broad sense. It’s so embedded in the very Earth that God will remake all of it one day.

Verse:

Romans 8:19-22 For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are. 20 Against its will, all creation was subjected to God’s curse. But with eager hope, 21 the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay. 22 For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.

Follow-up questions:

What stories are you thinking of? How much of the Bible have you had the chance to read?

Answer:

The Bible was written by a series of eyewitnesses in many cases--especially when it comes to Jesus. In fact, they wrote their accounts shortly after they happened, when they were fresh in their minds. If the 12 disciples made it all up, then as C.S. Lewis put it, “The theory only saddles you with twelve inexplicable lunatics instead of one,” (In A Time of War.) You will also find that many themes are repeated over and over in the Bible, beautifully connecting the whole. (For example, God’s faithfulness, God’s promises being fulfilled, redemption, forgiveness, etc.)

Verse:

2 Timothy 3: 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.

Follow-up questions:

What are you thinking of that defined Him as a “good person”? What stands out to you about Him from the Bible?

Answer:

“A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic—on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg—or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice.” C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

Verse:

John 20:30-31 The disciples saw Jesus do many other miraculous signs in addition to the ones recorded in this book. 31 But these are written so that you may continue to believe[d] that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name.

Follow-up questions:

Do you ever feel anxious about bearing the burden of truth? How do you know you have the truth?

Answer:

Truth is automatically exclusive. If everyone says they have different truths, then there is no such thing as falsehood. If truth isn’t a fixed mark, it isn't truth! But there is a person who knows and bears ALL truth, and you can find that in God and His Word, the Bible.

Verse:

1 Timothy 2:3-5 This is good and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. 5 For, there is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. 6 He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone.

Follow-up questions:

Can I ask where you heard that? If I could show you that God says the opposite of that, would you believe Him?

Answer:

There are some really awful sinners in the Bible--and God loved and forgave them! Paul murdered people, King David murdered and committed adultery, Rahab was a prostitute...the list is pretty long. But all of these people have something in common: they asked God’s forgiveness and left their sin behind for a new life. And God gave them one!

Verse:

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.

Follow-up questions:

When did it become outdated? Is “outdated” a cultural comment or a comment on morality? What makes us smarter now than people 50 or 100 years ago?

Answer:

Fashions come and go. History tells us they will come back again. No idea is really new. But God lives outside of time-He isn’t affected by how often we change our minds about what we want or even like. He is perfect and unchanging-and this is wonderful news! We don’t have to constantly keep changing to keep trying to hit the target of God’s moral law--God says we can find it by coming directly to Him, and can find great comfort in the fact that He never changes.

Verse:

Numbers 23: 19 God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind.

Follow-up questions:

Are you speaking from a personal experience? How do you believe Christians should act? What is the standard you are measuring Christain hypocrisy against?

Answer:

If you can tell something is hypocrisy, then that means there is a standard! All of us know how to put on a show--even Christians. To be a Christian is to repent of your sin, joyfully acknowledge that Jesus is the only way I can ever be righteous before God, and seek to live in a way that pleases God. A real hypocrite tries to say that their sins “aren’t that bad,” or “aren’t as bad as so-and-so’s sins.” A hypocrite excuses their sin; a true Christian should be humble. To point out hypocrisy is, in fact, a Christian thing to do! Jesus did it in the Book of Matthew! Jesus is the standard.

Verse:

Matthew 23:2-4 “The teachers of religious law and the Pharisees are the official interpreters of the law of Moses. 3 So practice and obey whatever they tell you, but don’t follow their example. For they don’t practice what they teach. 4 They crush people with unbearable religious demands and never lift a finger to ease the burden.
